Exuma Red Angus |
||
|
Exuma Red Angus began in the late 70’s with the purchase of ten “J” heifers from Bob Seaman. Since that time only four females were added to the herd, all other genetic additions have been through the purchase of bulls or semen. We believe that one of the strengths of the breed are the maternal attributes of Angus cattle so we select bulls only from the best cows in the herd. Our main focus has been on moderate birth weights, good udders, sound feet and legs and docile temperament. Bull buyers are at a sale or visiting a premises in an effort to influence their next calf crop in the most positive way they can afford. If the calf crop is to include replacement heifers attention has to be paid to the maternal value as indicated in the EPDs. We encourage producers to consider the purchase of a bull bearing the seventy one quarter circle brand to improve their foundation female herd. Our bulls are raised without creep on cows which graze as late as possible into the winter. They are then developed on a forty acre pasture and fed a silage grain mixture which seldom includes over seven pounds of grain per day. All bulls sold have been semen tested and come with a guarantee of fertility. They can be seen at White Lake Colony between Granum and Nobleford.
