Rocking S
Ranch is the partnership of Shawn and Patty Smith from Nokomis,
Saskatchewan. The herd consists of commercial and purebred Red and Black
Angus cattle. Our focus is to produce cattle that are functional for
purebred and commercial cattlemen and can perform in real world
conditions. Our purebred herd is managed alongside our commercial herd
and must be able to perform under those conditions. Our strong
commercial cattle influence has guided us to produce purebred Red and
Black Angus cattle that we feel will produce strong maternal traits with
a moderate frame and progeny that can be extremely efficient in a
breeding program or in a feedlot. We are pleased to show our herd at
anytime.

Breeding Program:
Our breeding program consists of producing purebred Red and Black Angus
yearling and two year old bulls, and purebred replacement or bred
heifers. On the commercial side we market our steers through the
Certified Angus Program and do sell commercial replacement and bred
heifers. Current sires in use is a son of Stockman 2164, Bar 71
Rito Time (goes back to Right Time and GT Maximum), and various Red and
Black Angus sires from Crescent Creek Angus. While balanced EPD traits
are desirable, in addition to carcass traits, our sire selection places
an emphasis on calving ease, weaning weights and maternal traits.
Our Red Angus foundation females were purchased from John and Hazel
Sidoryk from Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. |
