Celebrating 20 Years!
Riverdale has been operating for 24 years, 20 of those years we have
been raising Purebred Red Angus.
Red Angus Bulls were used on our commercial herd prior to &
after our marriage in 1983. We could not raise the females fast enough.
The demand for these cattle has not declined since that time...
in 2004 the Riverdale prefix was used for the first time in 2 separate
herds.
Our Daughter Jenna and husband Jarret Loveridge have started their own
purebred herd and have registered their tattoo letters as JJL ours
remains as RCMP.

Breeding
Program:
At Riverdale we believed that our females are the backbone to our
operation. From the beginning we have retained our own females allowing
us to bred large numbers of half sisters resulting in one of the most
uniform herds you will find anywhere.
The high majority of our females have very correct udders with good
attachment and small teat size that do not break down with age. This has
resulted in increasing the longevity in our herd. We have a 16 year old
cow that still has a perfect udder.
We breed Naturally and Artificially to sires with no less than 37 cm
yearling scrotal measurement, that pass on high performance, moderate
frame, thick hair coats, great confirmation, excellent dispositions and
moderate birth.
With the exception of the odd backward calf there has never been the
need to assist our cows during calving only ensure the newborns are
taken in out of the elements.
We do not breed extremes, we do not use creep feeders, we do not follow
fads... |
